Belarusian-Polish economic forum held in Bialystok

 

The 17th Good Neighborliness Belarusian-Polish Economic Forum was held in Poland's Bialystok on June 26 and 27.

The event was organized by the Belarusian-Polish Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) with assistance form the two countries' embassies and appropriate ministries.

The forum focused on cooperation between the two countries' provinces in agriculture and food production as the main driving force in investment and trade cooperation between Belarus and Poland, reported the press office of the Belarusian foreign ministry.

The Belarusian delegation to the opening ceremony included Viktar Haysyonak, the Belarusian ambassador to Poland; Alyaksandr Avyaryanaw, director of the foreign ministry’s External Economic Activities Department; Deputy Economy Minister Dzmitry Holukhaw; Deputy Agriculture Minister Lyudmila Nizhevich; Alyaksandr Rusanaw, deputy head of the Hrodna Regional Executive Committee; Mikhail Yukhimuk, deputy head of the Brest Regional Executive Committee; and BCCI First Deputy Chairman Vyachaslaw Revut.

Speakers at the forum commented on the current state and development prospects of economic relations between Belarus and Poland.

Representatives of the two countries' economy and agriculture ministries held a meeting on the sidelines of the forum.

About 170 representatives of Belarusian and Polish companies attended the forum. They took part in panel discussions on cooperation in the agricultural, banking and insurance sectors, and cross-border cooperation.

Belarusian participants also visited Polish companies interested in the development of cooperation with Belarus.
The next Good Neighborliness forum is scheduled to take place in Brest in 2014. //BelaPAN
