Sanctions against Belarus is dead-end track, Foreign Minister Makey says
The use of sanctions against Belarus is a dead-end track, Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makey said Tuesday in Minsk while meeting with Gerald Darmanin, leader of the France-Belarus friendship group in the French National Assembly, and other members of the group.
“We believe that there should be no problems in our relations, and that sanctions are not a good method for solving problems,” Mr. Makey said, according to the government’s news agency BelTA. “On the contrary, [the European Union’s] sanctions have led us to a dead-end.”
“In our opinion, the European politicians we talk to are coming to this conclusion,” Mr. Makey said. “That is why we propose the following logic for our cooperation: We understand that there are serious problem that we should solve, but we cannot do this today or tomorrow. This takes some time. However, there are a number of areas where we can and should cooperate.” //BelaPAN
