Hotel, restaurant prices will be "reasonable" during world hockey championship, official says

 

Hotel and restaurant prices will be "reasonable" during the 2014 World Ice Hockey Championship in Minsk, Vyachaslaw Charnow, director of the National Tourism Agency, told reporters in Minsk on December 6.

"If my memory serves me right, the head of state gave an appropriate directive to the Minsk City Executive Committee, and directives by the head of state are fulfilled in our country," he said.

"The world hockey championship is next year's main event aimed at promoting Belarus abroad," he said. "We view it not as a sports tournament but as a unique chance to show a good side to Belarus."

"Hopefully, foreign fans will have an opportunity not only to attend games but also to get acquainted with the best that Belarus has. We will offer excursions and tours to other locations in Belarus."

"It's very important to all of us to work well during this period, so that people could say only good words about our country after returning home. Now we still have to work on much - from smiles on border guards' faces to the quality of services provided to tourists," said Mr. Charnow. //BelaPAN
