National Bank decides against changing refinance rate in December
The board of the National Bank of Belarus (NBB) decided at a meeting on December 11 that its base refinance rate should remain unchanged in December at 23.5 percent.
The National Bank hopes that keeping the refinance rate at the current level will slow down inflation which has exceeded the forecasts in the past few months, the NBB press office said in a statement.
Consumer prices increased by 1.7 in September, by 1.9 percent in October and by 1.6 percent in November 2013.
The NBB last changed its refinance rate on June 10, reducing it from 25 to 23.5 percent.
Under the 2013 Monetary Policy Guidelines, the refinance rate was to be between 13 and 15 percent at the end of the year. //BelaPAN
