Belarusian Olympic champion Ala Tsuper changes her mind about retiring
Belarusian Olympic champion Ala Tsuper, who planned to retire after the Sochi Olympics, has changed her mind.
The 34-year-old Tsuper won her gold Olympic medal in the women's freestyle aerials in Sochi on February 14.
That was the Ukrainian-born athlete's fifth Olympic tournament. Her previous best finish was the fifth place at the 1998 Nagano Olympics, when she represented Ukraine. The diminutive aerial skier has competed for Belarus since the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City.
“Initially, I really wanted to end my career right after the [Sochi] Games,” Ms. Tsuper said in a recent interview with the newspaper Sovetskaya Belorussiya. “But later I thought that I could compete for one more year or two if I succeeded. Of course, I will hardly continue until my sixth Olympics.” //BelaPAN
