Kremlin confirms that Vladimir Putin will visit Minsk on Wednesday


Vladimir PutinThe Kremlin press office confirmed Monday that Vladimir Putin would visit Minsk on July 2.

The Russian president will visit the Belarusian capital city at the invitation of Alyaksandr Lukashenka to attend celebrations on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders, the press office said.

Messrs. Putin and Lukashenka are expected to hold talks to discuss pressing issues concerning multifaceted Russian-Belarusian cooperation and the coordination of efforts within integration blocs, the press office said.

Belarusian Deputy Culture Minister Vasil Chernik told reporters last week that the presidents of Belarus and Russia would attend the opening ceremony for a new building for the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk on July 2. //BelaPAN
