Former border guard chief may take reins at Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation
Ihar Rachkowski, first vice president of the National Olympic Committee, has been nominated for the position of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation (BIHF)'s chairperson by the Hrodna Regional Ice Hockey Federation, according to the BIHF press office.
There are no other contenders for the job so far amid speculation that Mr. Rachkowski, a 46-year-old former head of the State Border Committee, is a candidate picked by Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
The BIHF will elect its new leader at a conference on October 22.
The organization is currently led by 66-year-old Yawhen Vorsin, who announced this past May that he would not stand for reelection. // BelaPAN
