UK appoints new ambassador to Belarus
The United Kingdom has appointed Bruce Bucknell as its new ambassador to Belarus.
Mr. Bucknell will succeed Rosemary Thomas, who has headed Britain's diplomatic mission in Minsk since September 2009. Mr. Bucknell will take up his appointment this July, the UK Foreign Office said.
Mr. Bucknell is a career diplomat who joined the Foreign Office in 1985. He has served in Amman, Milan and Madrid, and in a variety of jobs in the Foreign Office in London.
On his appointment Mr. Bucknell said, “I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve as Ambassador in Belarus. Belarus has an important role in helping create a common space across Europe for the promotion of peace and prosperity.” //BelaPAN
