Lukashenka addresses gifted youths

Alyaksandr Lukashenka on Monday addressed a gathering of gifted youths at the Palace of the Republic in Minsk on Monday, said the Belarusian leader’s press office, BelaPAN reports.

Winners of international subject Olympiads, artistic contests and festivals, and winners of prizes and stipends funded from special presidential funds for support of youths were in attendance, the press office said.

“The inexhaustible treasury of talents is the true wealth of Belarus and its major resource that will help our country take a lead sooner or later,” Mr. Lukashenka said. He described support for talented youth as an affair of national importance, noting that every child with a “spark of an artistic talent flame” should be entitled to it irrespective of his parents’ income or social backgrounds.

Belarus has maintained generally accessible schools, lyceums, art schools, clubs and artistic groups for children, and youths represent their country decently at international contests and exhibtions, he said.
