Prominent Belarusian filmmaker Dabralyubaw dies aged 76

Prominent Belarusian filmmaker Ihar Dabralyubaw died on July 19 at the age of 76, BelaPAN reports.

Mr. Dabralyubaw, who was also an actor and screenwriter, passed away in a Minsk hospital after suffering his third stroke.

Born in Novosibirsk, he graduated from the Journalism faculty at Belarusian State University in 1956 and the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow in 1963. His first full-length feature film saw the light in 1966.

Mr. Dabralyubaw is best-known for his 1983 comedy "Belyye Rosy," which tells the tale of a family having to adjust to urban life after seeing their village razed. The filmmaker was also a professor at the Institute of Modern Knowledge in Minsk.

Mr. Dabralyubaw will be laid to rest at the Uskhodniya cemetery on July 22.
