Over 40,000 young men granted deferment from military service in most recent call-up campaign

 

Deferment from compulsory military service was granted to more than 42,000 draft-age young men during the most recent call-up campaign, the defense ministry's press office said.

Of these, almost 28,000 men were temporarily exempted from military service for the purpose of continuing their studies at vocational schools and schools of higher learning, the press office said.

About 10,000 new recruits joined the Armed Forces and other military units between January 18 and 31. They included part-time university students who are no longer eligible for deferment from military service.

The recruits will take military oath on February 12. //BelaPAN
