Weeklong visual arts festival kicks off in Minsk
A weeklong visual arts festival opened in Minsk on February 7.
The opening ceremony was held at Belarusian State University and was attended by, among others, Rector Syarhey Ablameyka, Vice Rector Uladzimir Suvoraw and Ihar Dukhan, head of the arts department at the university's State Institute of Management and Social Technologies.
"This art project opposes kitsch and tastelessness that reign in arts today," Alyaksey Semyantsow, head of the design department at the university's humanities faculty, said at the ceremony.
Mr. Suvoraw called for attending performances to be held in the framework of the festival and "looking with open eyes at the call for kindness, gentleness and understanding."
Visual art exhibitions will take place at the university's main building as part of the festival. In addition, troupes from Armenia, Belarus, Germany and Turkey will perform choreodramas. //BelaPAN
