Malady Front Deputy Chairperson Anastasiya Palazhanka released on recognizance

Настя Положанко Anastasiya (Nasta) Palazhanka, deputy chairperson of an unregistered opposition youth organization called Malady (Young) Front, was released Thursday from the KGB’s detention center in Minsk on her own recognizance.

“Nasta was freed late at night and we couldn't meet her and learn the circumstances of her release,” Malady Front member Tatsyana Shaputska told BelaPAN.

The 20-year-old Palazhanka, who was arrested in the early hours of December 20 following a post-election protest in Minsk, is one of more than 40 people charged in a so-called riot case that was opened following the protest.
