Sannikaw about to be transferred to Navapolatsk prison
Andrey Sannikaw is about to be transferred to the correctional institution in Navapolatsk, Vitsyebsk region, to serve his prison sentence, the former presidential candidate's wife, Iryna Khalip, told BelaPAN on Tuesday.
“He will be transferred either today or on July 25. The lawyer will visit Andrey tomorrow,” said Ms. Khalip.
Mr. Khalip met on Monday with her husband who is in detention in Minsk.
On May 14, a Partyzanski District Court judge sentenced the 57-year-old Sannikaw to five years in prison, finding him guilty of organizing "mass disorder" in connection with a post-election protest staged in the Belarusian capital city on December 19, 2010
