Consumer prices reported up 6.6 percent in first 23 days of August
Belarus` consumer prices rose by 6.6 percent between August 1 and August 23 compared with July’s average prices, according to the National Statistics Committee (Belstat).
The prices thus became 50.3 percent higher than in December 2010.
Since August 1, pork increased in price by 29.2 percent, live fish by 19.7 percent, eggs by 15.4 percent, “first-category” beef by 15.1 percent, vegetable oil by 12.3 percent, and poultry, milk and diary products, confectionery, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, tea, and bread and bakery products by five to 10 percent.
Potatoes fell in price by 31.9 percent, cabbages by 14.6 percent, onions by 22 percent, carrots by 23.8 percent, beetroots by 38.8 percent and apples by 23.1 percent.
Medicines increased in price by 17.1 percent, silk fabrics by 15.8 percent, footwear by 12.7 percent, tableware, hosiery, washing machines, garment and perfumery and cosmetics by six to nine percent.
Laundry and dry cleaning prices rose by 6.5 percent, passenger transport fares by 5.7 percent, the rates of medical services by 3.5 percent, and the rates of utility services provided to households by 2.9 percent.
According to Belstat, consumer prices in Belarus rose by 1.4 percent in January, 2.7 percent in February, 1.9 percent in March, 4.5 percent in April, 13.1 percent in May, 8.6 percent in June, and 3.5 percent in July. // BelaPAN
