Government to take additional measures to support public employees amid high inflation
Given forecasts for inflation in the remaining months of the year, the Belarusian government plans to take additional steps to support public employees, Deputy Prime Minister Syarhey Rumas told reporters in Minsk on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Rumas, a proposal to raise the First-Class Worker Rate on October 1 will soon be submitted to the head of state. In addition, he said, people’s September money incomes from government sources, such as salaries and allowances, will be indexed as was done in the previous four months because of a high inflation rate.
Apart from this, on November 1, the government is expected to introduce pay differentials for each category of employees paid under the Uniform Pay Schedule, Mr. Rumas said.
As a result of the planned measures, Belarus’ average real pay in 2011 will be on a level with that in 2010, he noted. // BelaPAN
