Gazprom CEO to return to Minsk for meeting with Lukashenka
Aleksei Miller, chief executive of Russia’s government-controlled natural gas monopolist Gazprom, is expected to return to Minsk on Friday for a meeting with Alyaksandr Lukashenka, according to Interfax.
On September 22, the Gazprom head met in Minsk with Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich to discuss the terms of the supply of natural gas to Belarus and Russian gas transit via the country.
The existing five-year gas supply contract between Belarus and Gazprom expires on December 31.
The parties are discussing a new contract in the context of the expected acquisition by Gazprom of the other 50-percent stake in Beltrahshaz, Belarus’ gas pipeline company. //BelaPAN
