Consumer prices reported up 10.5 percent in first three weeks of September
Belarus' consumer prices rose by 10.5 percent between September 1 and September 20 compared with August's average prices, according to the National Statistics Committee (Belstat).
The prices thus became 69.7 percent higher than in December 2010, rising by 53.6 percent in the first eight months.
In the first three weeks of September, cigarettes increased in price by 35 percent, vodka by 31 percent, pork and eggs by 25 percent, semi-finished beef products by 24 percent, sugar by 20 percent, poultry by 18 percent, cooked sausages by 13 percent, vegetable oil, butter and beer by 10 percent, live fish, first-category beef, milk, dairy products, bread, bakery products and soft drinks by between six and nine percent, and confectionery, tea and mayonnaise by between 4.6 and 5.5 percent.
Medicines increased in price by 17 percent, wallpaper by 15 percent, electric appliances by 12 percent, footwear by 10 percent, furniture, clothes, cosmetics and perfumery, and synthetic household detergents by 5.9 to 8.1 percent.
Higher education fees rose by 15 percent, urban public transport fares by 6.3 percent and the prices of medical services by 3.9 percent. // BelaPAN
