Belarus' consumer prices forecast to rise by about 11 percent next year

The Belarusian government has set an inflation target of 11 percent and a GDP growth target of 5.7 percent for 2014, Deputy Prime Minister Pyotr Prakapovich said Wednesday during a phone-in question-and-answer session hosted by the government's newspaper Respublika.

According to Mr. Prakapovich, consumer prices are expected to increase by between five and seven percent in 2015.

Consumer prices increased by 8.2 percent in the first eight months of 2013, including by 0.1 percent in August, and are forecast to rise by 12 percent this year. "This means we should meet this year's target," Mr. Prakapovich said.

Belarus' GDP increased by 1.4 percent year-on-year in the first seven months of 2013, with the target for the year being 8.5 percent, Mr. Prakapovich said. //BelaPAN
