Russia may lower oil price for Belarus, Lukashenka says
Russia may lower its oil price for Belarus if an agreement to this effect is reached, Alyaksandr Lukashenka told reporters on Friday while staying in the Ivatsevichy district, Brest, region.
The gas agreements signed in Moscow on November 25 have solved a whole plethora of problems in relations between Belarus and Russia, Mr. Lukashenka said, according to the government's news agency BelTA.
A number of other issues are also expected to be resolved in favor of Belarus, he said.
Russia has bowed to Belarus' insistent demands and agreed to charge it less for its natural gas in exchange for control of gas pipeline company Beltranshaz, Mr. Lukashenka said.
Russia will also provide Belarus with a loan of up to $10 billion for the construction of a nuclear power plant, he said.
A meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Belarusian-Russian Union State held in Moscow on November 25 ended with the signing of an interstate agreement on the gas price formation mechanism for Belarus and Belarus' charge for the transit of Russian natural gas through the country, an agreement on the terms of the acquisition by Gazprom of the other 50-percent of Belarus' gas pipeline company Beltranshaz, and contracts for the supply of natural gas to Belarus in the period between 2012 and 2014. // BelaPAN
