Belarusian boxer's appeal against controversial defeat rejected at London Olympics
The International Boxing Association has turned down an appeal by Belarus that sought the result of Syarhey Karneyew's bout against Azerbaijan's Teymur Mammadov overturned at the London Olympics.
The August 5 quarterfinal bout in the 91kg weight class ended with the score tied, but the Azerbaijani boxer was eventually declared the winner in a decision that left many fans and experts baffled. Mr. Karneyew clearly dominated the bout in two of the three rounds and the jury's decision was met by loud boos and jeers. The Belarusian left the ring to roaring applause from the crowd. //BelaPAN
