Belarusian kayak duo win silver at London Olympics
Raman Petrushenka and Vadzim Makhnew of Belarus won the silver medal in the men's kayak double 200 meters at the London Olympics on August 11.
The Belarusian duo clocked a time of 34.266 seconds, 0.7 second behind winners Yury Postrigay and Alexander Dyachenko of Russia, and slightly more than 0.1 second ahead of bronze medalists Liam Heath and Jon Schofield of Great Britain.
Messrs. Petrushenka and Makhnew were part of a Belarusian quartet that won gold in the kayak tournament of the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The duo earned an 11th medal for Belarus at the London Olympics. The country’s medal tally included three gold, four silver and four bronze medals as of Saturday afternoon. //BelaPAN
