Myasnikovich meets with visiting Israeli tourism minister

Belarus views Israel as a key partner for economic, scientific and cultural cooperation, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said at a meeting with Israeli Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov in Minsk on September 6.

Mr. Myasnikovich played up the development of ties between the two countries at the level of regions and welcomed Israeli investments in the Belarusian economy, according to the Council of Ministers' press office.

The prime minister expressed a high opinion of the results of this week's meeting of the Belarusian-Israeli Committee for Trade and Economic Cooperation. "It will give an impetus to the implementation of many interesting projects," he was quoted as saying.

He emphasized the importance of the involvement of the Israel Export Insurance Corporation (ASHRA) in Israeli companies' deals with Belarus.

Mr. Myasnikovich thanked the Israeli minister for his personal contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

He stressed that Belarus was interested in striking a visa-free travel agreement with Israel as soon as possible.

Mr. Misezhnikov, for his part, said that Israeli companies were interested to invest in Belarus. He announced that ASHRA might soon raise from $160 million to $300 million the amount of investment deals with Belarus covered by its insurance. //BelaPAN
