KGB officers raid apartments of four “anarchist” activists in Brest
Officers of the Committee for State Security (KGB) raided the apartments of four activists who are described by authorities as anarchists in Brest earlier this week.
The officers seized computers, USB flash drives and cell phones from the activists and summoned the latter to the local KGB office for questioning, according to Euroradio.
One of the activists, Alyaksandr Kazlyanka, linked the raids to a fake bomb found in a rubbish bin in the city in February 2012. Criminal proceedings were instituted in connection with the find.
Mr. Kazlyanka said that one of the activists had been told by a KGB officer that he would experience no problems if he changed “his political views” and stopped seeing fellow anarchists.
In May 2011, three activists described by authorities as anarchists were sentenced to lengthy prison terms by a district judge in Minsk over a series of firebomb attacks targeting government buildings and the Russian embassy. //BelaPAN
