Prime minister bemoans fall in world potash prices
Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich bemoaned a fall in world potash prices while visiting a plant under construction at Salihorsk-based Belaruskali on January 5.
He stressed that potash prices in the Chinese and Indian markets had taken a dip.
Mr. Myasnikovich suggested that Belarus could prevent its potash export proceeds from falling by increasing the volume of exports. "We are working with Belarusian Potash Company on the subject," the Council of Ministers' press office quoted him as saying.
The compound fertilizer plant is expected to be put into operation in April. Mr. Myasnikovich directed that it should begin operating at full capacity this summer.
Belaruskali CEO Valery Kiryyenka assured the prime minister that the plant would begin operation as scheduled.
He said that three more such plants would be put into operation by the end of 2014. Their construction would boost the country's annual output of compound potash fertilizers to around one million tons. //BelaPAN
