Lukashenka greets nation on May Day

 

Alyaksandr Lukashenka on Wednesday extended his greetings to the nation on the occasion of May Day.

The international holiday, also known as International Workers’ Day, is celebrated as Labor Day in Belarus.

“This day symbolizes the arrival of spring, the awakening of nature, people’s unity in strengthening peace, welfare, stability on their land,” the presidential press office quoted Mr. Lukashenka as saying in his message. “Belarus has always been famous for a talented, hard-working people willing to live in neighborliness and plenty. Our ancestors joined their forces to build houses, roads, gathered harvest. And today we cultivate in our children respect for the working person, a sense of duty and responsibility.”

Mr. Lukashenka described May Day as an opportunity to express gratitude to hard workers and wished all people “strong health, happiness, optimism, success in all of their business and undertakings,” according to the press office. //BelaPAN
