Prime minister orders retail trade increased
Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich directed earlier this month that the volume of retail trade should be increased, including through the introduction of state-of-the-art retail services.
Speaking at a recent meeting of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Myasnikovich criticized the trade ministry and food supply conglomerate Belkaapsayuz for not doing enough to develop retail trade, according to the cabinet's press office.
He emphasized the importance of the construction of new large shopping centers, the expansion of retail chains and networks of convenience stores, and the involvement of small businesses in running retail outlets and restaurants.
Mr. Myasnikovich also said that retailers should do more to attract customers with the help of discounts and advertising events. He suggested that the trade ministry and Belkaapsayuz devise and introduce measures that would secure a sharp increase in the volume of retail trade.
In addition, Mr. Myasnikovich directed that government agencies organize more Belarusian fairs in neighboring countries to sell consumer goods there. //BelaPAN
