Putin grants Order of Friendship to Belarusian propagandist
Russian President Vladimir Putin has bestowed the Order of Friendship on Lew Kryshtapovich, deputy head of the Information and Analytical Center of Belarus’ Presidential Administration's who is notorious for his pro-Russian propaganda.
The award is in recognition of Mr. Kryshtapovich’s “large contribution to strengthening friendship and cooperation with the Russian Federation.”
In an extravagant remark made during a conference this past March, Mr. Kryshtapovich claimed that the history of Belarusian statehood had had nothing to do with the Grand Duchy of Litva, which existed between the late 12th century and 1795.
Alyaksandr Kavalenya, academician secretary of the Humanities and Arts Department of the National Academy of Sciences, countered that the Belarusians should not try to “cross out” any significant periods or names from their history or look at history through the lens of some ideology. // BelaPAN
