Man in Brest region sentenced to 15 years in prison for murdering friend

 

A resident of a village in the Malaryta district, Brest region, on June 14 was sentenced to 15 years in a medium-security correctional institution for brutally murdering a friend of his.

The murder was committed on the evening of November 30, 2012 in the village of Maly Pawlapal, where the 25-year-old unemployed man came to visit his long-time friend, Natallya Vaserchuk, officer of the Brest Regional Prosecutor’s Office who was the public prosecutor in the trial, told BelaPAN on Tuesday.

The two men got into a quarrel while drinking alcohol in the victim's house. The guest hit his 29-year-old friend at least 40 times in the head, body and legs, with fists, feet and a wooden stool, inflicting at least 145 injuries, Ms. Vaserchuk said.

After that the man called an ambulance and the police, saying that he had beaten up his friend.

The ambulance crew pronounced the man dead when they arrived at the scene of the incident.

The murderer had no previous convictions. //BelaPAN
