Exports of Belarusian motor fuel to Ukraine expected to continue falling
Exports of Belarusian motor fuel to Ukraine are expected to continue falling in 2014, consulting firm A-95 said in its fresh report, BelaPAN said.
Belarus supplied Ukraine with 1.5 million tons of motor fuel in the first half of this year, down from 2.1 million in the same period of 2012. The firm's experts predicted that motor fuel imports from Belarus would fall to 900,000 tons in the first six months of 2014.
Ukraine will further decrease motor fuel imports, not least because two more refineries are expected to be put back into operation. The share of domestic motor fuel in the Ukrainian market is projected to rise from 22 percent in the first half of this year to 50 to 60 percent in 2014, according to A-95.
Experts agree that exports of Belarusian motor fuels to Ukraine have dropped mainly because Belarus no longer supplies the country with biodiesel fuel, which occasionally accounted for as much as 50 percent of Belarusian diesel fuel exports last year.
Belarusian-refined biodiesel fuel was popular in Ukraine because of its low price.
