Lukashenka warns that stake in Belaruskali will not be sold for time being

 

A stake in potash giant Belaruskali will not be sold to a private investor for the time being, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said while visiting the Motavela bicycle and motorcycle plant in Minsk on Friday.

"They say, 'Why does not he sell Belaruskali?' One must be an idiot to sell [the company] following this break-up, when its price is low," he said, referring to the recent collapse of Belaruskali's sales cartel with Russia's Uralkali.

Speaking about slow potash sales, Mr. Lukashenka said, "Your direct task is to sell." "What is the problem, we have representatives at the level of ambassador in some 50 countries. Go and sell potash, something that you have already started doing," he said.

"Today all deputy ministers of foreign affairs visit other countries and lead representatives of Belarusian Potash Company by the hand to sign contracts and overcome this crisis," Mr. Lukashenka said. // BelaPAN
