Belavia reports 26-percent rise in passenger traffic in 2013

Belavia carried 1,612,983 passengers in 2013, a 25.6-percent increase compared with the previous year, said the national airline's press office.

According to the press office, the airline also carried 2,015.7 tons of mail and freight, an 18.8-percent increase.

Belavia launched passenger services to Russia’s Samara and Georgia’s Kutaisi, as well as to Budapest, Belgrade, Geneva and Vilnius last year. The carrier currently flies to 43 destinations in 28 countries in Europe, Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The airline operates 21 aircraft, including six Boeing 737-500s, six Boeing 737-300s, two Embraer-175s, four CRJ 100/200s and three Tu-154s.

The company plans to withdraw Tupolev Tu-154s from use by 2017 and have a total of 27 aircraft by that year. //BelaPAN
