Prime Minister Myasnikovich reports increase in potash sales in January
There have been good growth rates of sales in the potash and the machine-building industries this year, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich told Alyaksandr Lukashenka during their meeting in Minsk on Thursday.
However, the "market is waking up very slowly and there have so far been no appreciable signs of revival in economic growth," Mr. Myasnikovich noted, according to the presidential press office.
Companies' finished goods inventories have slightly decreased compared with the middle of the previous year and currently amount to 70 percent of the average monthly output, Mr. Myasnikovich said.
Major Belarusian companies, such as haul truck manufacturer BelAZ, Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) and Minsk Tractor Works, still have large stockpiles of unsold products, he said.
Mr. Lukashenka directed that the government should use all "appropriate measures," up to and including the submission of proposals for dismissal, the press office said. //BelaPAN
