Liliya Ananich appointed information minister
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has, by his presidential edict, appointed Liliya Ananich as information minister, according to the Belarusian leader’s press office.
Ms. Ananich succeeded Aleh Pralyaskowski, who was dismissed by Mr. Lukashenka from the position of information minister on June 4 for an unknown reason.
First Deputy Information Minister Liliya Ananich became acting information minister after Mr. Pralyaskowski’s dismissal.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka expressed hope that new Information Minister Liliya Ananich would be able to bring something new to the work of her ministry despite many years of service as deputy and first deputy minister.
“The most important thing is for the whole agency to be fine-tuned and running like clockwork,” Mr. Lukashenka said on Monday while announcing government appointments, according to BelTA.
“I very much hope that you know all drawbacks and will organize the ministry’s work in such a way that neither you nor the country will then be ashamed,” he said.
Mr. Lukashenka played up the difficulty and importance of the position of information minister, describing it as “not only a key but also a hot position.”
