Dog bites off owner's arm in Mahilyow region

A Rottweiler dog bit off its owner's arm in the Babruysk district, Mahilyow region, earlier this month.

The dog attacked the woman on July 3 as soon as she entered her house in the village of Malyeva, Maryna Tsimafeyeva, acting head of the Babruysk district veterinary station, told BelaPAN.

According to Ms. Tsimafeyeva, neighbors say that the woman's stepson had brought to dog to the village a month earlier. At some point the woman went away and left the dog locked inside the house without food for several days.

Doctors at the district hospital could not save the woman's limb. It had to be amputated above the elbow.

The dog was put to death and a sample of its DNA was taken for testing.
