Official statisticians report 20.6-percent rise in exports in first seven months

The first seven months of 2010 saw a 20.6-percent year-on-year increase in Belarus' export of goods, according to the National Statistics Committee, as quoted by BelaPAN.

The country exported $13,292.3 million worth of goods during the period, the Committee said.

Belarus' foreign trade in goods reportedly rose by 16.9 percent year-on-year to $30,785.7 million, with imports increasing by 14.2 percent to $17,493.4 million.

At the same time trade with the European Union's countries decreased by 9.4 percent to $7,587.7 million, with exports to the EU decreasing by 19.8 percent to $3,873.8 million and imports rising by 4.7 percent to $3,713.9 million.

Belarus traded with a total of 179 countries in the first four months, exporting goods to 145 countries and importing from 156 countries.

The nation's major trading partners were: Russia, which accounted for 47.8 percent of the total foreign trade, Ukraine with 7.3 percent, the Netherlands with 5.1 percent, Germany with 4.7 percent, China with 3.5 percent, Poland with 3.3 percent, Brazil, Latvia and the United Kingdom with 1.6 percent each and Italy with 1.6 percent.
Russia accounted for 39.4 percent of Belarus' exports, other CIS countries for 14.5 percent, the EU for 29.1 percent and other countries for 17 percent. As much as 54.1 percent of the country's imports were from Russia, 6.7 percent from the other CIS countries, 21.1 percent from the EU and 18 percent from other countries.
