Both nominees of opposition political parties included in the Brest regional election commission

Both nominees of opposition political parties have been included in the Brest regional election commission for the December 19 presidential election, BelaPAN reports.

In particular, membership in the commission has been granted to representatives of the United Civic Party and also the Spravedlivy Mir (Just World) Belarusian Party of the Left, a spokesperson for the organizational and personnel management department of the Brest Regional Executive Committee told BelaPAN.

The other two nominees of political parties, namely, the Communist Party of Belarus and the Liberal Democratic Party, have also been included in the commission.

Formed at a September 29 meeting of the leaderships of the Brest Regional Soviet and the Brest Regional Executive Committee, the commission has 13 members, the maximum possible number.

Among them are five representatives of pro-government NGOs, namely, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, the Belarusian Union of Officers, Belaya Rus, the Belarusian National Youth Union and the Belarusian Association of War Veterans.

Two members of the commission were nominated by "workers' collectives" and two through the collection of voter signatures.

Only one opposition representative has been included in the Vitsyebsk regional election commission for the December presidential election.
