Prosecutor General`s Office submits bill that would establish night curfew for children to governmental agencies for consideration
The Prosecutor General’s Office has completed revision of its bill of amendments that would ban children aged under 16 years from appearing in the streets at night without their parents or any other trusted adults.
The bill would establish penalties under the Administrative Offenses Code for violating the ban, said the Office`s press center on Thursday.
“Crime statistics show that most offenses committed by legal minors are recorded in the evenings and at night,” the press center said. “When appearing in the streets without being accompanied and supervised by adults, teenagers court danger, as well as commit offenses themselves.”
The press center said that as many as 4,777 offenses were committed by legal minors in 2010, with 1,867, or 40 percent of them, at night from 10:00 p.m. till 6:00 a.m.
It added that the Office had submitted the bill to governmental agencies concerned for consideration. //BelaPAN
