Citizens of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan arrested during New Year celebrations in Minsk
As many as 18 citizens of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan were arrested during New Year celebrations near the Palace of Sports in Minsk, the press office of the city police department told BelaPAN.
According to the press office, about 100 citizens of the Central Asian countries, mostly students, misbehaved and ignored policemen's warnings, as well as tried to resist arrest. As a result some of them were apprehended and charged with hooliganism, the press office said.
The incident followed a scuffle that erupted between Belarusian youths and citizens of Central Asian countries inside the Minsk subway late on December 31.
