Swedish prosecutors say that toy drop flight does not fall within their jurisdiction

Last July's invasion of Belarus' airspace by a plane piloted by Swedish nationals does not fall directly within the jurisdiction of Sweden's justice system, Agence France-Presse said with reference to the Stockholm prosecutor's office.

Sweden has not yet received Lithuania's request to take over the investigation into the incident, according to the news agency.

Earlier this week, the Lithuanian Prosecutor General's Office said that it had taken all possible efforts to investigate the incident and "further criminal prosecution is possible only in Sweden."

The Lithuanian authorities declared two residents of Sweden suspects in the case.

The investigation established that a Swedish-registered Jodel aircraft illegally flew from Lithuania to Belarus and back on July 4, according to the Office.

Two representatives of Sweden’s advertising agency Studio Total illegally flew the small plane from Lithuania to Belarus and dropped hundreds of parachute-wearing teddy bears that carried pro-democracy messages on the small city of Ivyanets and Minsk’s outskirts before flying back to Lithuania unhindered.

On August 8, the Belarusian authorities asked Lithuania and Sweden to help them investigate the intrusion. //BelaPAN
