European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to provide €5 million to Heineken Belarus
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has decided to provide €5 million to the Belarusian subsidiary of Dutch brewing company Heineken N.V. to support the company's projects aimed at assisting Belarusian farmers in growing high quality barley and increasing the efficiency of the use of water and electric power at its breweries.
In addition, a certain part of the funds will be spent to equip retail stores throughout the country with "green" fridges.
According to the press office of Heineken Belarus, the funds will come in a €4-million loan for a period of seven years and a €1-million three-year revolving loan facility.
Founded in 2007, Heineken Belarus currently runs two breweries in the country: Heineken Breweries in Babruysk, acquired in December 2007, and Rechytsapiva in Rechytsa, acquired in May 2008. //BelaPAN
