Lukashenka visits school in Minsk to mark start of school year
Alyaksandr Lukashenka attended a ceremony marking the beginning of the new school year at a school of general education in Minsk on August 31.
Speaking to teachers, students and their parents at School No. 51, the Belarusian leader said that his generation had created the “first state in the history of our country, our people.” “And I think we have not done everything yet,” the government’s news agency BelTA quoted him as saying.
“We cannot let not only ourselves but also our children live on someone else’s land,” Mr. Lukashenka said. “We must do our utmost for our Belarusian state to be established and strengthened forever on this piece of Belarusian land, whatever the cost.”
“We must do our utmost for our children to be proud of us, our deed that led us to create our own state on our land,” Mr. Lukashenka said.
“As president I will do my best to mobilize society to accomplish this sacred task of making the process of building our statehood, our state irreversible,” he added.
