Belarus ready to assist Armenia in joining Customs Union
Belarus is ready to provide every kind of assistance to Armenia to pave the way for it to join the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia as soon as possible, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said Monday while meeting with the president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, on the sidelines of a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Russia’s Sochi.
“There is one issue we should discuss. It is Armenia’s prospects for joining the Customs Union,” the Belarusian leader said, according to the government’s news agency BelTA.
“I want to say unambiguously: if Armenia firmly decides to be a full member of our organization, Belarus will never try to prevent this and will only support your intention and provide every kind assistance in completing all procedures and joining us as quickly as possible,” Mr. Lukashenka said.
According to Mr. Sargsyan, his country is very serious about its intention. “We have not changed our minds because we came to this opinion by ourselves,” he said.
