Belarus beat Latvia to advance to playoffs at Ice Hockey World Championship

Belarus defeated Latvia 3-1 on Monday to secure a place in the playoffs of the Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk.

Belarus' goals were scored by Geoff Platt, Mikhail Hrabowski (Grabovski) and Syarhey Kastsitsyn (Kostitsyn).

In a dramatic ending, Latvia thought that they scored the equalizer with just seconds left, but the goal was disallowed on a goalie interference call.

The game was attended by 14,531 people, the highest attendance since the start of the tournament.
