Sculpture opens in Minsk

An exhibition of works by Belarusian sculptors opened at the Museum of Contemporary Fine Arts in Minsk on January 11, BelaPAN said.

On display are works by Anatol Artsimovich, a professor at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, and his disciples, some of whom live in Poland and France.

While opening the event, Academy Rector Mikhail Barazna noted that the presence of a big number of sculptures by Mr. Artsimovich's disciples was evidence of his mentoring talent.

Mr. Artsimovich, for his part, said that there was no trade more serious than sculptor.

He said that some of the works displayed at the exhibition had been donated by him to the city of Minsk. "And I have no regrets whatsoever that I didn’t get any rewards for this. I'm happy that the page of Belarus' history is being filled," the artist said.
