Hackers attack website of Radio Racyja
Hackers have attacked the website of Polish-based Radio Racyja, which targets audiences in Belarus.
The attack began on November 26, Radio Racyja journalist Barys Haretski told BelaPAN on Tuesday.
“The site was infected with a virus,” he said. “To prevent the virus from spreading to the computers of our visitors, our technicians decided on November 27 to take the site temporarily offline.”
He said that access to the site had now been restored only partially, as its database had been damaged.
“According to experts, this was not a usual Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, which leaves users unable to access the site,” said Mr. Haretski. “The attack was more sophisticated, with the hackers using a virus. Hackers started looking for vulnerability on the site a long time ago. Presumably, the site was attacked by hackers in China. But our experts believe that the attack may also have been launched by someone in Belarus.”
The site is expected to resume normal operation later on Tuesday, added Mr. Haretski.
