Minsk recommends that Belarusians leave Syria
The Belarusian foreign ministry has strongly recommended that Belarusian citizens leave war-torn Syria amid reports that the United States and its allies may launch a military strike against the Bashar al-Assad regime.
The ministry said that Belarusians could contact the Belarusian embassy in Damascus or the office of the Belarusian honorary consul in Beirut, Lebanon, for assistance with leaving Syria.
US President Barack Obama has already called for limited US strikes on Syria in response to the regime's alleged use of chemical weapons that are believed to have killed an estimated 1,400 people.
A third of the Syrian population has been displaced by the country's civil war that began in March 2011, according to the United Nations. //BelaPAN
