Ukrainian human rights activist denied entry to Belarus
Ukrainian human rights activist Mariya Yasenovska was denied entry to Belarus on Friday.
"Today the State Border Committee of Belarus banned prominent Ukrainian human rights activist Mariya Yasenovska from entering the territory of our country," civil society activist Andrey Stryzhak told opposition news site charter97.org. "She was taken off the train at the Tserakhowka border checkpoint and denied entry [to Belarus]. According to border guards, [Ms. Yasenovska] was denied entry to the territory of Belarus at the request of Russian authorities."
British journalist Jonathan Rugman was denied entry to Belarus on Thursday.
Earlier this month, Martin Uggla, leader of a Swedish human rights group called Ostgruppen, Norwegian politicians Emil Andre Erstad and Line Nordhaug, and Marek Migalski, a Polish member of the European Parliament, were also turned away at the Belarusian border. //BelaPAN
