TV company reports high ratings of world hockey championship

More than 3.5 million TV viewers watched the games of the Ice Hockey World Championship in the first three days of the tournament, said the press office of the Belarusian State Television and Radio Company with reference to an audience measurement study.

The audience of sports channel Belarus Five reportedly increased from 0.5 to 3.9 percent of the total television viewership in the period.

The press office said that one in five Belarusians aged 18 and older had watched Team Belarus' opening game against Team USA on May 9.

The game attracted seven percent of the total TV viewership, while the highest television audience drawn by the hockey tournament of the 2014 Sochi Olympics was 5.2 percent. //BelaPAN
