Lukashenka to meet with Russian president in Moscow this week
Alyaksandr Lukashenka is scheduled to visit Moscow on November 25 to take part in an meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Belarusian-Russian Union State alongside his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, said the Kremlin’s press office on Monday.
Reports have had it that a package of agreements with Gazprom, including agreements on next year’s Russian gas deliveries to Belarus, its transit shipments via the country and the sale of the government`s remaining stake in gas transport company Beltranshaz to the Russian gas giant may be signed on the sidelines of Mr. Lukashenka’s visit to the Russian capital city. In addition, an agreement on Russia’s loan to finance the construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus may be inked at the meeting of the Supreme State Council.
Mr. Lukashenka stayed in Moscow last Friday. He met with the presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia to sign a declaration marking the beginning of the next stage in integration between the three members of the Customs Unions, which are preparing to launch the Common Economic Zone in 2012. The paper also announces the intention of the three states to create a Eurasian Economic Union by 2015. In addition, the three heads of state inked an agreement on the formation of a Eurasian Economic Commission to oversee the integration process. //BelaPAN
